Ace Parker, born on May 17, 1912, in Portsmouth, Virginia, was an American football player who gained prominence as a quarterback and halfback during the early years of the National Football League (NFL). Parker played college football at Duke University, where he excelled as an all-around athlete, contributing to the school's rising football program in the late 1930s. His professional career began in 1937 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, where he quickly established himself as a key player.
During his tenure with the Dodgers, Parker earned All-Pro honors and led the team in several offensive categories, including passing and rushing yards. He was notably recognized for his versatility, capable of playing both quarterback and running back effectively. After a brief hiatus from the NFL due to service in World War II, he returned to the league in 1945 with the New York Yankees, where he continued to showcase his skills on the field.
