Adia Barnes

Adia Barnes, born on February 3, 1977, in San Diego, California, is a former professional basketball player and current head coach of the University of Arizona women's basketball team. A standout athlete, Barnes enjoyed a notable collegiate career at the University of Arizona, where she earned All-American honors and was a key player for the Wildcats during her tenure from 1994 to 1998. Following her college career, she was selected as the 9th overall pick in the 1998 WNBA Draft by the Sacramento Monarchs.

Throughout her professional career, Barnes played for several WNBA teams, including the Sacramento Monarchs, the New York Liberty, and the Seattle Storm, contributing to her teams in various capacities despite facing challenges with injury and performance. In her early seasons, she averaged 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game in 1998, marking her best statistical performance, but her scoring declined in subsequent years, where she averaged 1.1 points and 1.6 points in 1999 and 2000, respectively.
