Andrei Kostitsyn, born on February 3, 1985, in Novopolotsk, Belarus, is a former professional ice hockey player known for his offensive prowess and playmaking abilities. He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round, 10th overall, of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Kostitsyn began his North American career in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Hamilton Bulldogs, helping lead the team to a Calder Cup championship in 2007.
During his time in the NHL, Kostitsyn played primarily for the Montreal Canadiens, where he became notable for his contributions to the team's top lines from 2005 to 2013. He achieved considerable success, including a career-high 53 points during the 2008-09 season and participating in the playoffs multiple times, with a significant role in the Canadiens' run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2010.
