Archie Manning, born on May 19, 1949, in Drew, Mississippi, is a former professional American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) primarily for the New Orleans Saints, as well as for the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Oilers. He was drafted second overall by the Saints in the 1971 NFL Draft after a standout collegiate career at the University of Mississippi, where he earned All-American honors. Over his 15-year NFL career, Manning distinguished himself as a mobile and intelligent quarterback, known for his passing accuracy and ability to extend plays.
