Biography
Arjuna Ranatunga, born on December 1, 1963, in Gampaha, Sri Lanka, is a former international cricketer and captain of the Sri Lankan national team, recognized for his pivotal role in transforming the team's fortunes in the 1990s. An accomplished batsman, he was known for his combative style and innovative approach to the game, contributing significantly to Sri Lanka's rise in world cricket. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 1982 and was a key player in the team that won the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
