Art Monk, born on December 5, 1957, in White Plains, New York, is a former professional American football wide receiver who played 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Monk attended Syracuse University, where he set several school records and earned All-American honors. He was selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of a distinguished career.
During his tenure with the Redskins, Monk became one of the premier receivers of his era, known for his exceptional hands and route-running abilities. He was a key player in the Redskins' offense, contributing to three Super Bowl victories in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Monk was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1980s, solidifying his status as one of the best wide receivers in NFL history.
