Biography
Art Thoms, born on October 20, 1946, is a former American football defensive lineman who had a notable career in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned recognition for his skills and athleticism. Thoms was selected in the 4th round of the 1969 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.
Thoms played the majority of his professional career with the Oakland Raiders, where he was known for his exceptional ability to disrupt opposing offenses. During his tenure, he played in two Super Bowls, including Super Bowl XI, where the Raiders achieved a 32-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, securing the franchise's first championship. His contributions on the defensive line were instrumental in establishing the Raiders as a competitive team during the 1970s.
After his time with the Raiders, Thoms went on to play for the Buffalo Bills and had a brief stint with the Green Bay Packers. He left a lasting legacy as a skilled defensive player, recognized by his peers and fans alike for his tenacity and effectiveness on the field.
