Artis Gilmore, born on September 21, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, is a former professional basketball player renowned for his exceptional skills as a center. Standing at 7 feet 2 inches tall, he played college basketball at Jacksonville University, where he gained national attention for leading the Dolphins to the NCAA championship game in 1970. Gilmore was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1971 NBA Draft, becoming a key player in the league and establishing a notable career.
