Ashantha de Mel, born on May 9, 1959, in Sri Lanka, is a distinguished former cricketer known for his contributions to the Sri Lankan national team during the late 1980s and early 1990s. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1982 and gained recognition for his ability to generate bounce and movement on various surfaces.
