Athula Samarasekera, born on August 5, 1961, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer known for his left-handed batting and right-arm off-spin bowling. He made significant contributions to Sri Lankan cricket during the late 1980s and early 1990s, representing the national team in various international formats. Samarasekera is particularly remembered for his performances in One Day Internationals (ODIs), where he participated in 33 matches from 1985 to 1992.
Samarasekera made his debut for the Sri Lankan national team in 1985 and quickly established himself as a reliable middle-order batsman.
