B. Subrahmanyam Chandrashekhar, born on May 17, 1945, in Mysore, India, was a celebrated cricketer known for his exceptional leg-spin bowling. He made his debut for the Indian national team in 1964 and quickly garnered attention for his unique bowling style and remarkable skill in taking wickets. Throughout his international career, which spanned from 1964 to 1979, he played in 58 Test matches, claiming 242 wickets, and participated in 5 One Day Internationals (ODIs), taking 7 wickets.
Chandrashekhar's notable achievements include being a key member of the Indian squad that reached the semifinals of the 1975 Cricket World Cup and played a pivotal role during India's historic Test series win in the West Indies in 1971. His partnership with fellow spinners, particularly with Bhagwat Chandrasekhar and EAS Prasanna, revolutionized India's spin bowling attack and earned the group the moniker "The Spin Quartet."
