Biography
Benu Dasgupta (born March 7, 1928) was a prominent Indian cricketer known for his contributions to the sport in the mid-20th century. A right-handed batsman and occasional wicketkeeper, he made his first-class debut for Bengal during the 1945-46 season and quickly established himself as a key player in the regional circuit. His domestic career spanned over a decade, during which he showcased his talent with notable performances.
Dasgupta achieved international recognition when he was selected to represent the Indian national cricket team. He played in a total of 5 Test matches from 1952 to 1953, during which he demonstrated his skills against some of the world’s leading teams, notably England and Australia. Although his Test career was brief, Dasgupta’s contributions to Indian cricket were significant, particularly in bolstering the team during its early years on the international stage.
