Bishan Singh Bedi, born on September 25, 1946, in Amritsar, India, is a former Indian cricketer renowned for his left-arm orthodox spin bowling. He made his Test debut for India in 1966 against the West Indies and went on to represent the national team in 67 Test matches until his retirement in 1979. Bedi's skillful bowling technique and ability to spin the ball earned him 266 Test wickets, making him one of the leading spinners of his era.
As a key member of the Indian cricket team, Bedi played a vital role in the historic series victories against England in 1971 and Australia in 1977-78. His contributions in the 1975 Cricket World Cup were also significant, as he showcased his tactical acumen on the international stage. Bedi was part of the famous " spin quartet" that included Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivasan Venkataraghavan, and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, who collectively transformed India's bowling attack during the 1970s.
