Bob McKillop, born on July 13, 1950, is a retired American basketball coach and former athlete, widely recognized for his impactful career in collegiate basketball. He played college basketball at East Carolina University, where he demonstrated his skills on the court, laying the foundation for his future coaching career. Following his playing days, McKillop transitioned to coaching, beginning his journey at various high schools before making a significant mark at the collegiate level.
McKillop is best known for his long tenure as the head coach of the men's basketball team at Davidson College, a position he held from 1989 to 2022. Under his leadership, the Wildcats achieved remarkable success, including multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a run to the Elite Eight in 2008 where the team, led by star player Stephen Curry, upset several higher-seeded teams. His coaching style emphasized teamwork, discipline, and skill development, earning him numerous accolades, including multiple Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year awards.
