Charlie Joiner, born on October 14, 1947, in Many, Louisiana, is a former professional American football player who distinguished himself as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He attended Grambling State University, where he excelled in collegiate football, and was selected in the fourth round of the 1969 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. Joiner later played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Diego Chargers, where he spent the majority of his career and became one of the league's most reliable receivers.
Joiner achieved significant milestones during his NFL tenure, being named to three Pro Bowls and earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 1976. He is particularly remembered for his pivotal role in the Chargers’ success during the late 1970s and early 1980s, highlighted by their appearance in Super Bowl XXIX. With a career total of over 750 receptions and nearly 12,000 yards receiving, Joiner consistently ranked among the top statistical leaders for wide receivers during his era.
