Charmaine Crooks, born on August 8, 1962, in Vancouver, Canada, is a notable former track and field athlete renowned for her exceptional sprinting abilities. Specializing in the 400 meters and 800 meters, she gained recognition for her performances throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, earning her place as one of Canada’s premier middle-distance runners. Crooks represented Canada at multiple international competitions, including the Summer Olympics in 1984 and 1988.
One of Crooks's most significant career achievements came in 1983 when she won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 meters relay at the IAAF World Championships in Helsinki. In addition to her World Championship success, she earned multiple Canadian titles and established a strong presence in the NCAA while competing at the University of Texas at Austin. Crooks was also a key member of the Canadian team during the 1987 Pan American Games, where she contributed to the team’s overall success.
