Chris Arizin was an American professional basketball player, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern scoring techniques in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on September 20, 1927, in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Arizin played college basketball at Villanova University before being selected as the 2nd overall pick by the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1950 NBA Draft. He became known for his innovative jump shot and exceptional scoring ability, which transformed the way the game was played.
Throughout his 10-season career, Arizin was an All-Star selection ten times and was named to the All-NBA First Team on five occasions. He led the league in scoring during the 1951-52 season, averaging 25.1 points per game, and is remembered for his impressive scoring feats, highlighted by his career total of 16,266 points. Arizin also contributed to the Warriors' success, helping the team secure the NBA championship in 1956.
