Biography
Chris Silverwood, born on March 5, 1975, in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, is a former English cricketer and current coaching figure in the sport. A right-arm fast bowler and right-handed batsman, Silverwood made his first-class debut for Worcestershire in 1991. He went on to enjoy a successful domestic career, representing teams such as Essex and the England Lions, while also making a significant mark in county cricket.
Silverwood made his international debut for England in 1996, featuring in both Test and One Day International formats. He gained recognition for his performances in the late 1990s and early 2000s, earning 27 Test caps and taking 85 wickets, while also participating in 39 ODIs where he claimed 34 wickets. His playing career culminated in 2002, after which he transitioned into coaching, sharing his expertise with aspiring cricketers.
Post-retirement, Silverwood held various coaching roles, eventually serving as the head coach for the England Test team from October 2019 until early 2022. Under his guidance, the team saw mixed success, but he played a pivotal role in nurturing young talent.
