Chuck Amato, born on June 26, 1946, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, is a former American football player and coach known for his contributions to the National Football League (NFL) and college football. A standout linebacker at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Amato went undrafted but caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to a brief professional career in the league. He played for teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Following his playing career, Amato transitioned into coaching, eventually serving as an assistant coach at various institutions, including Florida State University, where he was part of a team that won two national championships in the 1990s. He later assumed the role of head coach at North Carolina State University (NC State) from 2000 to 2006.
