Biography
Chuck Howley, born on June 28, 1936, is a former professional American football player who made a significant impact as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football at West Virginia University, he was selected in the 1958 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Howley spent the majority of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, where he became known for his exceptional defensive skills and intelligence on the field.
During his tenure with the Cowboys from 1961 to 1973, Howley was a key figure in the team's defense, helping lead them to multiple playoff appearances, including Super Bowl V. He was named Super Bowl MVP of that game, making him the first player in history to receive the honor from a losing team. Over his career, Howley was selected to six Pro Bowls and earned five First-Team All-Pro honors, solidifying his reputation as one of the premier linebackers of his era.
