Dan Hampton, born on September 19, 1957, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, is a former professional American football player renowned for his defensive prowess as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He played his entire career with the Chicago Bears from 1979 to 1990 and was a crucial component of the team’s legendary defense during the 1980s, known as the "Monsters of the Midway." Hampton was selected in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft, showcasing his impactful presence on the field.
Throughout his career, Hampton earned several accolades, including being named to the Pro Bowl four times (1980, 1982, 1983, and 1985) and receiving the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 1985.
