Daniel Girardi is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman, born on April 29, 1984, in Welland, Ontario. He began his junior career with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before going undrafted in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Girardi signed with the New York Rangers in 2006, where he quickly established himself as a reliable and durable defenseman.
During his tenure with the Rangers from 2006 to 2017, Girardi played a key role in the team’s defensive lineup, showcasing his strong physical play and shot-blocking abilities. He was a vital contributor in the Rangers' run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2014, where they ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Kings.
