Biography
Daniel Hourcade, born on June 7, 1958, in Argentina, is a former rugby union player and notable coach, recognized for his contributions to the sport both on and off the field. Primarily a lock, he represented the Argentine national team, known as the Pumas, during the 1980s. Hourcade was part of a generation of players that laid the foundation for the growth of rugby in Argentina.
Hourcade debuted for the Pumas in 1981 and earned over 30 caps throughout his international career, participating in various Rugby World Cup qualifying campaigns. His formidable presence in the pack and leadership capabilities were instrumental in solidifying Argentina’s competitive stature in international rugby during his playing days.
Following his retirement as a player, Hourcade transitioned into coaching, eventually taking on the role of head coach for Argentina's national team. Under his guidance, the Pumas achieved notable success, including a historic third-place finish in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
