Dave Laut (born December 21, 1956) was an accomplished American shot putter known for his significant contributions to the sport during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Laut gained national attention when he won the NCAA outdoor championship in 1978 while representing the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He went on to qualify for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, although his participation was ultimately thwarted by the United States boycott.
In addition to his NCAA success, Laut demonstrated exceptional athletic prowess on the international scene, earning a bronze medal at the 1983 IAAF World Championships in Athletics held in Helsinki, Finland.
