Biography
Debashish Mohanty, born on July 20, 1976, in Cuttack, India, is a former Indian cricketer known for his prowess as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He made his debut for the Indian national team in 1997, quickly establishing himself as a key member of the bowling attack. Mohanty was a part of India's squad during the late 1990s and early 2000s, showcasing his skills in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches.
Throughout his international career, which spanned until 2001, Mohanty played in 45 ODIs and 4 Test matches, amassing a combined total of over 100 wickets. His notable performances included a significant role in India's memorable 1998 tour of Australia, where he stood out in several high-pressure situations. Despite the intense competition for pace bowlers in the national setup, he gained respect for his consistent performances and ability to swing the ball.
After retiring from international cricket, Mohanty continued to contribute to the game as a coach and mentor, influencing the next generation of players.
