Deepal Gunawardene, born on October 21, 1969, in Sri Lanka, is a former international cricketer known for his contributions to the national team as a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 1993 against India and became recognized for his steady performances in the middle order. Gunawardene represented Sri Lanka in 86 ODIs between 1993 and 1999, participating in key tournaments, including the 1996 Cricket World Cup, which Sri Lanka famously won.
