Derrick Burgess, born on August 12, 1978, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a former professional American football defensive end who played in the National Football League (NFL) from 2001 to 2011. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he showcased his skills as a standout defensive player before entering the NFL. Burgess was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
