Derrick Gaffney, born on May 24, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a former professional American football wide receiver. He attended the University of Florida, where he had a notable collegiate career playing for the Florida Gators. Gaffney was selected in the fourth round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
During his NFL career, which spanned from 1976 to 1984, Gaffney played for several teams, including the New England Patriots, Houston Oilers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He gained recognition for his speed and reliability as a pass-catcher, finishing his career with over 2,600 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
