Biography
Derrick Johnson, born on November 22, 1982, in Waco, Texas, is a former professional American football linebacker who played the majority of his career for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). A standout at the University of Texas, where he earned consensus All-American honors, Johnson was selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. His speed and tackling ability quickly established him as a key defensive player in the league.
Throughout his career, Johnson became known for his exceptional playmaking skills, amassing over 1,200 tackles, 28.5 sacks, and 14 interceptions. He was named to the Pro Bowl four times (2011, 2012, 2013, and 2016) and received the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2015, recognizing his community service efforts in addition to his on-field accomplishments.
