Diego Corrales was an American professional boxer born on August 25, 1977, in Sacramento, California. He began his boxing career in the late 1990s and quickly garnered attention in the super featherweight division. Known for his tenacity, power, and remarkable fighting spirit, he became a prominent figure in the sport.
Corrales achieved significant success in his career, most notably winning the WBC super featherweight title in 2004 and the WBC lightweight title in 2005. His fight against José Luis Castillo on May 7, 2005, is often regarded as one of the greatest bouts in boxing history, showcasing his resilience as he overcame a knockdown to secure a TKO victory in the tenth round. Throughout his career, Corrales compiled a record of 40 wins, 5 losses, and 33 knockouts, establishing himself as a formidable opponent in the ring.
