Dilshan Vitharana, born on May 13, 1978, in Sri Lanka, is a former professional cricketer known for his contributions as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Over the course of his career, Vitharana played a pivotal role in the Sri Lankan national team, making significant contributions in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches. Renowned for his technique and agility behind the stumps, he was a key player during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Vitharana made his Test debut in 1997 against New Zealand and went on to play 22 Tests, accumulating over 1,400 runs with a batting average of nearly 40. He established himself as a reliable middle-order batsman, highlighted by several notable performances in crucial matches.
