Biography
Dimitris Diamantidis, born on May 6, 1980, in Papagou, Athens, Greece, is a retired professional basketball player renowned for his exceptional defensive skills and playmaking abilities. Standing at 1.93 meters, he primarily played as a shooting guard and point guard throughout his career. Diamantidis is particularly celebrated for his tenure with Panathinaikos, where he became one of the most decorated players in European basketball history.
During his career, Diamantidis achieved numerous accolades, including three EuroLeague championships (2007, 2009, 2011) and being named the EuroLeague Final Four MVP twice. He was also honored with the EuroLeague MVP award in 2007 and recognized as the Best Defensive Player multiple times. His contributions to the Greek national team were significant, earning a silver medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Diamantidis retired in 2016, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest players in European basketball.
