Donnie Shell, born on August 26, 1952, in Whitmire, South Carolina, is a former American football player who achieved significant success as a free safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played his entire professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1974 to 1987, contributing to the team's dominance during the 1970s and 1980s. Shell was an undrafted free agent who overcame the odds to become one of the top defensive players of his era.
