Biography
Dont'a Hightower was born on March 12, 1990, in Lewisville, Texas. He attended the University of Alabama, where he played college football for the Crimson Tide under head coach Nick Saban. Hightower was instrumental in leading the team to a BCS National Championship in 2009 and earned recognition for his defensive prowess, finishing his college career with 208 tackles and 13 sacks.
In the 2012 NFL Draft, Hightower was selected in the first round by the New England Patriots with the 25th overall pick. During his tenure with the Patriots, which spanned from 2012 to 2020, he became known for his leadership on defense and versatility as a linebacker. Hightower played a key role in the Patriots' success, contributing to two Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI, and was named a Pro Bowler in 2016.
After opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hightower returned to the Patriots in 2021 but announced his retirement from professional football in 2022.
