Doug Buffone was born on June 27, 1944, in Franklin Park, Illinois. He was an American football linebacker who played for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL) from 1966 to 1979. Over his 14-year career, Buffone established himself as a key player on the Bears' defense, known for his tenacity and leadership.
Buffone played in 188 regular-season games, accumulating 1,238 tackles, 24 interceptions, and 20 fumble recoveries. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 1970, highlighting his impact on the field during his prime years. His contributions helped solidify the Bears' reputation as a formidable defensive unit in the league.
After his retirement, Buffone transitioned to a successful career in sports broadcasting, where he became a prominent radio host and commentator in Chicago.
