Doug Insole (18 April 1926 – 10 April 2023) was a notable English cricketer who played as a right-handed batsman and occasional off-spin bowler. He represented Essex County Cricket Club from 1946 to 1962, appearing in over 300 first-class matches during his career. Insole was known for his solid batting technique and his ability to perform under pressure, contributing significantly to Essex's successes in domestic competitions.
Insole's most significant achievements include being part of the Essex team that secured the County Championship title in 1971, a period which marked a resurgence for the club.
