Biography
Duncan Fletcher, born on September 27, 1948, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, is a former cricketer and renowned cricket coach from South Africa. He had an extensive first-class playing career primarily as a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler, playing for teams including Western Province and South Africa A. Fletcher made his Test debut for South Africa in 1996 after the country’s readmission to international cricket, participating in five Test matches.
Following his playing career, Fletcher established himself as one of cricket's most successful coaches. He served as the head coach of the England national cricket team from 1999 to 2007, leading the team to notable successes, including their first Ashes series victory in Australia in 2006-07 and the historic win in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. His coaching philosophy emphasized player development and tactical insight, earning him respect and recognition within the sport.
