Biography
Earl Campbell, born on March 29, 1955, in Tyler, Texas, is a former American football running back who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in National Football League (NFL) history. After an illustrious college career at the University of Texas, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1977, Campbell was selected first overall in the 1978 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. His powerful running style and explosive speed quickly made him a dominant force in professional football.
During his NFL career, Campbell played primarily for the Houston Oilers (1978–1984) and later for the New Orleans Saints (1984–1985). He was a three-time rushing leader and won the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 1979.
