Earnest Byner, born on September 15, 1962, in Jonesville, Virginia, is a former professional American football running back known for his impactful career in the National Football League (NFL). After an impressive collegiate career at East Carolina University, where he became the school's all-time leading rusher, Byner was selected in the tenth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Over the course of his career, he played for notable teams including the Browns, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Washington Football Team.
Byner is perhaps best remembered for his tenure with the Cleveland Browns, where he became a key contributor in the late 1980s.
