Eddie Thompson (born February 27, 1907) was a prominent English cricketer known for his left-handed batting style and skilled off-spin bowling. He made his first-class debut for Yorkshire in 1926, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the team's lineup. Throughout his career, Thompson's contributions helped Yorkshire secure several County Championship titles during the late 1920s and 1930s.
In addition to his domestic success, Thompson represented England in international matches, earning his Test cap in 1931. He played in a total of 14 Test matches until 1938, showcasing his talents on a global stage, particularly in the 1932-33 Bodyline series against Australia, where his role proved instrumental in the series' outcome. His overall Test batting average stood at a commendable 30.35, while his bowling delivered critical breakthroughs to support the English side.
