Biography
Edwin Valero was a Venezuelan professional boxer born on December 3, 1981, in Mérida, Venezuela. He was known for his explosive punching power, holding a unique record as one of the few boxers in history to win all his fights by knockout. Valero began his professional career in 2001, rapidly rising through the ranks and capturing the WBA Super Featherweight title in 2006.
In 2009, Valero made a significant mark on the sport by unifying the WBA and WBC Lightweight titles, becoming a two-division world champion. He ended his boxing career with an unblemished record of 27 wins, all by knockout, showcasing not only his technical skills but also his immense KO power that earned him a reputation as one of the most feared punchers in the sport.
Valero's legacy, however, is overshadowed by his tragic personal life, which included struggles with mental health and domestic violence allegations. In 2010, he died by suicide following the murder of his wife, which drew international media attention to issues of mental health and domestic violence in sports.
