Elijah Pitts, born on February 3, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas, was an accomplished American football player known for his tenure as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). After playing collegiate football at Philander Smith College, he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 1961 NFL Draft. Pitts quickly made an impact in the league during his rookie season, contributing to the team’s success in securing NFL championships.
Pitts is best recognized for his pivotal role in the Packers' dynasty era under head coach Vince Lombardi. He was a key member of the Packers' teams that won back-to-back NFL Championships in 1961 and 1962, and he played an integral part in their victory in Super Bowl I.
