Ellen Buchanan is a retired professional basketball player, known for her exceptional skills as a shooting guard. Born on April 15, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, Buchanan excelled in high school basketball at Lincoln Park High School, where she was a two-time All-State selection. She continued her career at the University of Connecticut, leading the Huskies to a national championship in 2009 and earning All-American honors during her collegiate tenure.
After graduating with a degree in sports management, Buchanan was selected 5th overall in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. Over her six-year professional career, she was known for her scoring ability and tenacity on defense, making multiple All-Star appearances and being named to the All-WNBA Second Team twice. Buchanan helped the Storm secure playoff berths in four consecutive seasons and contributed to the team’s championship run in 2013.
Following her retirement in 2016, Buchanan transitioned into coaching and community outreach, focusing on youth development programs in basketball.
