Eric Dickerson is a former professional American football running back, born on September 2, 1960, in Sealy, Texas. He played college football at Southern Methodist University, where he established himself as a dominant player and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1976. Dickerson was selected by the Los Angeles Rams as the second overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft.
Throughout his career, Dickerson became known for his exceptional speed and unique upright running style, which contributed to his record-breaking performances. He set an NFL single-season rushing record in 1984, amassing 2,105 yards, a record that stood for 34 years.
