Erick Dampier, born on July 14, 1975, in Jackson, Mississippi, is a former professional basketball player known for his role as a center in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After playing college basketball at Mississippi State University, Dampier declared for the NBA Draft and was selected 10th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 1996.
