Ernest Pynor, born on April 23, 1920, was a prominent English cricketer known for his exceptional skills as a fast bowler and lower-order batsman. He made his first-class debut for Sussex in 1946, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the county circuit. Pynor represented Sussex throughout his career and was instrumental in the team's success during the late 1940s and early 1950s.

He played in 18 Test matches for England from 1948 to 1954, taking a total of 52 wickets and earning a reputation for his aggressive bowling style.
