Franco Foda, born on April 23, 1966, in Mannheim, Germany, is a retired professional footballer known for his contributions both as a player and a coach. A versatile defender, Foda began his career with the youth team of VfB Mannheim before moving on to SC Freiburg and later joining 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1989. During his time at Kaiserslautern, he became a key player, helping the team win the Bundesliga title in 1991, as well as the DFB-Pokal in 1996.
Transitioning to a coaching career after retiring in 2003, Foda took various managerial roles, notably serving as the head coach of the Austrian national team from 2018 to 2021.
