Frank Vogel, born on June 21, 1973, is a former professional basketball player and a prominent coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball at the University of Kentucky, where he was a part of the team that won the NCAA Championship in 1996. Vogel transitioned into coaching after his playing career, serving in various assistant roles before becoming a head coach.
Vogel's coaching career took off when he was appointed as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers in 2011. Under his leadership, the Pacers achieved significant success, including reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 2013 and consistently competing for playoff spots. In 2016, he moved to the Orlando Magic as head coach but was later hired by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019.
During his tenure with the Lakers, Vogel led the team to an NBA Championship in 2020, marking the franchise's 17th title. His defensive strategies and ability to manage star players were pivotal in the team's success during this period.
