Fred Ruck is a former professional basketball athlete known for his impactful career in both collegiate and professional leagues. Born on March 15, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ruck gained recognition as a standout player during his high school years at Central High School, where he earned All-State honors and led his team to the state championship.

Ruck played college basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he was a pivotal member of the Tar Heels’ squad from 2003 to 2007. He helped the team secure an NCAA Championship in 2005 and was named to the All-ACC First Team in his senior year, marking a high point in his collegiate career. After graduating, Ruck was selected in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.
