Freddie Joe Steinmark (January 27, 1949 – June 6, 2002) was an American football player who gained prominence as a safety in the National Football League (NFL). Born in Denver, Colorado, he played college football at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a key member of the 1969 national championship team. His tenacity and skill on the field earned him recognition, leading to his selection in the 1971 NFL Draft.
Steinmark was selected by the Denver Broncos in the 12th round of the 1971 draft and quickly established himself as a dependable player in the secondary. Despite facing personal challenges, including a diagnosis of cancer shortly after his career commenced, he played professionally for the Broncos for several seasons until injuries curtailed his playing days. His determination and perseverance through adversity became a hallmark of his legacy.
